Donald Trump and Constantine the Great: The Similarities!

Donald Trump
This article explains the similarities of both these well-known rulers! To begin with, let me introduce these two leaders of the world.

Who is Donald Trump?

Well, I don’t need much time to introduce who Trump is! He is the present president of the US. Before he stepped into politics, he was a well-known businessman and he was a billionaire too.

Who is Constantine the Great?

He was a Roman Emperor from AD 306-337. He was well-known for making Christianity a dominant religion during his reign. He favoured Christians so much and it was from his era the persecution was ended.

The similarities

Many of you might not have any clue about what I am going to state here in this article. Well, keep scrolling down and you will get what I mean to say.

a.       Both these rulers have common interest i.e. RULING!

No doubt President Trump wants to be a leader! He is not looking for making money by becoming a president; he is not interested in anything but the title “PRESIDENT OF THE USA.” Do not forget he is a billionaire! He has enough and he was a successful businessman. In fact, very few people can achieve what he has achieved in the business world.
And no doubt Emperor Constantine too wanted to be a ruler! He wanted the whole Romans emperor to be under his complete leadership rule which his predecessors had failed.  There is no concrete answer for why he favoured so much to Christianity but I believed it was because he wanted to gain undisputed approval and complete submission to his rulership. And of course, he successfully carried out his plan and objective.

b.      Both these rulers favour Christianity

President Trump: if I were to mention one world leader (current), who boldly fought against abortion, homosexuality, religious liberty, etc. then it has to be President Trump! I am not telling that he is a perfect person. I do agree that he has lots of shortcomings. As Franklin Graham said, “…and he (Trump) has a desire to help the church, to help Christians… is he a perfect person? Absolutely not. Is he the best example of the Christian faith? No way. But there is something in his heart where God has placed him there to defend the Christian faith and religious liberty. And so, I appreciate that about him, and we need to try to lift him up in prayer and support him where we can.” I agree with what Franklin Graham said! Truly, I can see God is doing something in President Trump’s heart. Yes, Trump is never a perfect example but God is using him. He might be or might not be a true Christian but he is doing his best to have religious liberty and he has been favouring Christians.
Constantine the Great: Before the reign of Constantine, there was no religious freedom for Christians. In fact, Christians suffered so much under the hands of Romans emperors. But God raised Constantine to be a ruler and ended the persecution. He might be or might not be a true Christian; he perhaps may be favouring Christians just for his political gain; but during his reign, there was freedom for Christianity and Christians enjoy the privilege. There is no concrete answer for why he favoured Christianity. Some said he was a Christian so he favoured them. But some said that his main objective was to gain undisputed approval and complete submission to his rulership. Whatever the reason might be, one thing we are sure is that during his reign, Christianity became a dominant religion and the persecution was ended.

The political situation during Constantine’s era might be different from Trump’s; their moral character might be different from each other too. In fact, there may be many dissimilarities between them. But both have a special place for Christianity in their hearts. We have many reasons to appreciate Trump and back him more in our prayer. Why don’t you pray for Trump and leaders around the world right away?

It is written in the Bible, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”  May God bless you. Amen.
